    Do you see the bands?

If I am reading this right, if I was properly calibrated, I should not see bands in the grey boxes on the right of the screen?
    I see them.

    Monitor calibration and gamma

Now if I am reading correctly again, it says if I set my gamma to 2.2 and I still see the bands, I need a new monitor or a calibrator?
    Or am I totally wrong?

    Hi,

I'm going to assume that you're looking at an LCD panel display. Norman's page has been up there a long time and it has some great info, but it applies to older CRT displays. LCD displays are physically different and those gamma test patterns really don't work for visual adjustment of an LCD display.
