Yes...Nikon F-mount lenses, almost all of them in fact, will easily mount to an adapter that will attach to a Canon 500D. There are many e-Bay vendors selling Chinese-made adapters for around $20 US dollars, and these things work pretty well. I have a little over a dozen Nikon-to-Canon EF lens adapters.

here's a gallery with some quickie snaps of how these things look. http://www.pbase.com/derrel/nikon_to...s_adapter_demo

These lenses i have.. Im not 100% sure but they are from the 80's-90's. Are the nikon mounts still the same, or do you know if they have changed it much?

Derrel, do those adaptors give infinity focus? Some adaptors for old lenses do and some don't.

I use an M42 lens to Ef adaptor which does, and I had a canon FD to EF adaptor that didn't. Macro is fine, either way, but landscapes etc. won't work without infinity focus.

Also the issue of Focus confirmation. Pay more money for a chipped variety to get the flashing dot and beep when in focus.

Up to you. But I use heaps of old M42 lenses...I like them...well built, good glass (in some) and decent images. Plus, get popular items like 50mm f1.8 lenses for next to nothing as M42 mounts.

It is because of the difference in "Flange to Focal Plane Distance"

Take a look at this article for more information.

Oh, yes. I knew that. Just wondered whether the OP did.
That article will be of help, anyway. Thanks for linking to it.
If a lens can be used that doesn't need extra "glass" then that will be better with respect to image quality and won't lose light.
That's why I plumped for M42 lenses - work fine without extra glass. I have had other lenses, picked up in charity shops, but I am not bothered if the adaptor needs glass to make it work.

    Thanks
