Camera System for Photography Class - Opinions please
Hi Everyone ...
I would like to get some opinions. Would this camera package be a good way to go for taking a photography course? It comes with everything but a tripod. Olympus E-20N Camera DSLR With Lenses, Flash LOADED!! | eBay
The price seems right for what is included and an offer could be made too? Thoughts???
Please let me know.

LMAO That is true!
Personally, I wouldn't get that. You don't need all those converters. I'd get a good SLR and either a kit lens or figure out what kind of shooting you will be doing and get a lens accordingly.

I shoot with a Nikon D3000 and dream of a D700. I have the 18-55 kit, 50mm f/1.4G AF-S, and the 55-200 as far as glass goes.
Not a pro, just want to take decent shots.

I will not buy that camera for $9xx, not even $100 since it came out about 10 years ago and the lens is fixed.

Thanks for you quick responses. I thought it may be a good buy ... but wanted some input. What was fixed on the lens?
Is having all of the lens choices a good thing to have starting out?
Thanks!

A fixed lens is one that is stuck on the camera body. It is not something I would ever consider purchasing.

I spend too much of my life on TPF!
"By combining the TCON-300S Kit with the TCON-14B you can bring the 35-mm equivalent length of your lens to 600 mm and have an effective aperture of F/2.8! "

It just had "macro", "telephoto", and "Wide angle" attachments that went on the camera. That really just look ridiculous.

Olympus E-20 Review: 1. Introduction: Digital Photography Review
In 2002 it might have been a good buy, today there are numerous entry level dslr's that surpass this camera's abilities for lower prices and just as good lens choices.
320 max iso, not good. 5 mega pixel. You could easily get a Canon Rebel for $300 to $600 with lenses to boot on Ebay, then additional lenses with the remainder left over.
Happy hunting.

This has to be a troll.....
I can just imagine taking that thing through some airport security checks for the yearly vacation pictures
... try to conceal the leaf blower haha
Get a decent DSLR with some kit lens and be happy. If you want to go the used route D90's are going for a fairly decent price and can still add a lens and a flash for about 1000$
Nikon D90 gripped
Nikon 18-200 AFS VR
Nikon 70-300 VR
Nikon 28-80 AF-D
Nikon 50mm 1.8 AF
Nikon SB 600
Manfrotto 680B Monopod W/ 804RC2 Head
Sherpa Velbon 200R Tripod
ML-L3 Wireless Remote Control
Held together by a Crumpler 7 million dollar home or a Swiss Army sling bag

I see that the Nikon D90 models can be purchased for around the same price (obviously without all of the attachments), but what would be the most useful lenses to buy?
Thanks,

If you are planning to take photography class, you may want to check with the class teacher about the requirements. Some members mentioned in the past that their class required 35mm film camera so any of the digital camera won't work.
