Another DIY thread from Strad........ BOUNCE CARD
Yes, the winner of the 2011 DIY Necromancy award is at it again!
Ran across this gem on the intertubes today, and thought I would share. I'm going to Michaels tonight to pick up some "fun foam" and give this a try! The part I find most appealing is that it quickly and easily converts from a bounce card to a flag.
I will try to make some up tonight and post results.
Here's the link. Enjoy!

I think you will find the best way to become a better photographer is to ask for C&C or advice, then bitch and whine about the critique and/or advice you are given because it's not what you want to hear.
Well, maybe not the best way, but its by far the most entertaining.
Also, just because you don't know how to use your equipment doesn't mean others shouldn't learn how to use theirs.

Too bad whoever made that website is a dumbass and inserted FULL RESOLUTION files from a D700 only to display them at ~400px on the longest edge.

Lol I used a pie plate for one side of mine and white cardboard on the other side. That way if I need extra bounce I just flip it around and use the reflective side.

Just made three. Cakewalk.
Can't wait to take some photos. For those of you who are interested in making some of these, I purchased a product called "Velcro ONE-WRAP" (available at Michaels) instead of the elastic and velcro tape. A little more expensive, but absolutely worth the expense. It's basically a cloth tape with the make end of velcro on one side, and the female on the other. Makes really short work of this product.I think you will find the best way to become a better photographer is to ask for C&C or advice, then bitch and whine about the critique and/or advice you are given because it's not what you want to hear.

I would imagine the elastic would help give it a nice tight grip on the flash. Do you find it slipping at all with just the cloth tape?

No, for a couple of reasons.
I already have two small squares of velcro on my speedlight for gels, and the velcro tape sticks to those as well. Second, for those of you who don't already have velcro on the unit..... the "FunFoam" has some give. If you pull the velcro tape tight enough, the give from the foam acts as a clamp. It's really pretty slick. Very straight forward, very simple. I'm kind of pissed I didn't find this link months ago.Last edited by Stradawhovious; 05-11-2011 at 07:30 PM.

OK. So I have made three, and have assembled a bounce card, and a set of barndoors. I have one left I would like to make (single flag) which means I will have the makings for one extra.
Since I'm the coolest guy that anyone has ever met, I will be giving this one away for free. Even paying for shipping! (Id rather pay to ship it than let it go unused.)
All you have to do is be the first person to post under mine here, and I will send it to you (provided you live in the US. I'm not shipping this internationally.)
The only caveat is that you have to test it out, and put a short review of it here when you get it. Don't post your addy here, PM me if you are the winner.
Ready?

You don't count. You're already getting one, you just didn't know it yet. (See Schwetty? Stalking on intrawebs forums by posting alone isn't playing to your fullest ability....... if you want to be a really creepy stalker, get them gifts.
)
OK, NOW the next person who posts that they want it gets the last one.I think you will find the best way to become a better photographer is to ask for C&C or advice, then bitch and whine about the critique and/or advice you are given because it's not what you want to hear.

I wouldn't mind having one.
Even though I wasn't tuning in for the whole DIY link you posted (the intertubez at work is too slow).
