ideas for photo shoots
I'm doing my niece's 2yr old birthday pictures and I would like some ideas. I don't have much to work with as far as backdrops or props because I'm pretty much just getting started and have not invested in anything yet. Anything would help and be appreciated. I just need something to get me started. I'm just stumped.

I would suggest taking them outside. Two year olds like to run around so if you find a nice field or something then you could do something like that. My niece really liked posing for me at that age so you might get her to dress up. (We did cowgirl pictures) lol another fun thing I've done is getting balloons at a local party supply store in all different colors and tied them to her arm and just let her run and pose. It was cute
Good luck!

Thanks! we actually did the balloons last yr but she wasn't quite sitting up yet. I may see if theres a field somewhere that she can run openly. We live too close to the highways where i'm from so I'll see where I can find one.

I just went to my neighbor's this past Sunday for her son's 1st birthday. The photo I took of a child playing in the bag was well liked.
Good luck with the party!

Thanks! I suggested the park idea to my sister n law and she didnt say yes but she didnt say no. shes wanting to go to like a botanical gardens museum locally. I'm open for more ideas tho. personally I dont know what this place has so I'm alittle nervous not knowing what I can do with it. Normally I do research of the places but I've been to most of the settings I've shot at locally so we shall see.

I've been wanting to get a group together for a girl's tea party. I think that will be so cute. As far as the birthday, I've also been looking for an antique clothier so I can have a girl trying on grown up antique clothing. I love the lighting in most antique stores. A two year old might not be so cooperative for that one!
I recently took a friend's toddler on a walk-about through their town. The urban look with him was really cute.

yes I know it has plants lol but I'm saying I dont have a clue as to how to tie a 2 yr old into it. I would think wedding pictures or engagment would be more appropriate for that type of setting. I'm also not cosidered "professional" so I dont have the benefits of being able to go behind the line. Today when I called to make sure we could bring a camera, the lady said we have to stay on the sidewalk.

I agree. I want to make her happy because she's the one paying. I would just like to have other ideas in case she's not satisfied when we get there we will have a backup plan. like i said before, I'm just not sure what's there for a 2 yr old. We will see. Thanks for the help tho. If you have anything else please let me know.

The antique clothing is a great idea. I'm new to it all tho so I dont have a background. Maybe I can do it in the backyard and have her and her mom playing or something. Thanks!

2 years old... find something that gets really messy as you go along they can have fun with. Get your nice shots on a nice clean white backdrop of paper or something, then get some finger paints or paint brushes in there for fun. Antoher option is do something like the botanical gardens, but find a really good spot to get dirty or muddy.. 2 year olds are always into something and getting dirty.

How about a cake smash? Nothing like a good cake smash on a little one's birthday...
