    A wasp.

    1. Slight crop.





    2. Full frame, i.e. no crop.





    3. About 2/3 of original frame.




    Canon FD 50mm macro + 15mm tube.

    How close to that devilish creature were you? When they fly towards me I run!

    Nice sharp images! If it weren't for that big white thing in #2, that would be my fav. The pose is epic! #1 is a close second (which makes it my fav).

    Are these cropped much, or did actually fill the frame with that little thing with your setup?

    Fantastic! I am going to invest in a decent macro lens for close-up shots like these and my wife's butterflies.

    Excellent shots, Ron! Those shiny carapaces are hard to shoot without getting nasty reflections.... nicely done. Cloudy day? Shade?

    I edited the OP to indicate the cropping. I had another "big white thing" in #3 that I cropped out.

    These were taken on the balcony railing in shade.

    nice! I would kick up the color / saturation / contrast up a notch.... these wasps are probably the typical BRIGHT yellow and black?? They are almost monochromatic in the pictures....

    I actually did but these were shot in the shade on an overcast morning so one cannot expect the colours to pop. Dull light = dull colours.
