Studyness shouldn't be an issue because my cameras are lightweight (compact camera and miniDV camcorder).
The name I noticed most when surfing eBay is Slik, Velbon, and Bogen-Manfrotto. How are these brands? |

Bogen-Manfrotto is the only one I have personal experience with. They make good tripods.
Haven't actually used them before, but Slik & Velbon look good too. |

For current high end tripods, I am only really familiar with Gitzo, Induro, and Bogen (Manfrotto). I'd say that Slik, Giottos and a few other make some good quality tripods too. Actually, since you are using fairly lightweight equiptment on your tripod, the average $20-40 drugstore tripod should work fairly well. There is no reason to upgrade to the higher or mid end stuff unless you want a good panhead for your camcorder.
P.S. Get one with a quick release system or you'll hate yourself.

My budget is about $90.
My last tri-pod was cheap and it squeaked when panning. The sound would be picked up by the camcorder and could be heard when watching the video. So I am trying to buy something more expensive. I am hoping that I will get one that does not squeak and pans smoothly so that there is no jerky movements when panning. |

Also good: Manfrotto 728B Tripod Almost always goes on sale for $80-100ish.
