cool accessories you didn't know you needed
Until you got them...
Ace Camera in Loudoun is having a big sale. I want to stock up on a few things. I already bought a Gitzo tripod (80 bucks off!) and some extra CF cards (Extreme III) for a sale price plus an extra rebate... and I bought a remote.
Anything else I should snap up? I don't need to get crazy right now - I'm still a beginner.Canon 30D | Canon 35mm 1.4L | Polarizers | Canon 24-105 F4L IS | Canon 100mm F2.8 macro |Lowepro Slingshot 200 | Gitzo 1550T Tripod | Remote

Which books have you read? After all, everyone needs a library.
Luck favors the prepared.
To be in the right place at the right time you have to first be in the right place.
Do you really care which camera I use?

Maybe a monopod, or a small bag that'll just fit your camera & walkaround lens. (i have a huge tamrac expeditioni 7, so I enjoy a smaller bag sometimes)
Filters....or an extra battery charger.
Lens hoods if you don't have them

There's no correlation between creativity and equipment ownership. None. Zilch. Nada. Actually, as the artist gets more into his thing, and as he gets more successful, his number of tools tends to go down. He knows what works for him. Expending mental energy on stuff wastes time.

They're fabulous. It's nice that it says The Photo Forum on it, fine, but the Op-Tech strap is really the best and most versatile thing around for SLRs. You can also snap out hte large neck thing and just connect the two small ones to make a nice hand-strap for those shoots where you're not carrying the camera around your neck or on the shoulder...
