    Rent a D2x and see what you think. I'd also check out the D300.

    Unfortunately there's no place local that I can find and most rental sites are US based. I've held a D2x briefly while buying a lens and it felt great, but I've been seeing mixed results in regards to ISO noise 800 and up when compared to lower models. I understand the D300 is supposed to be amazing in that area which is why I'm stuck between the two.

    From what i read the d300 is much better then the d2x as far as IQ and noise, but there are benefits that the pro body has but i dont know if you need that or not.
