I bought a third party flash to save money first, and ended up buying the Canon flash after a year or so. I still have my third party one, and use it as a backup with my backup camera, but it hasn't been used as my primary since I bought my Canon. The Canon generally gives you 197846326 times more options (approximately) than a third party flash and it looks a lot better. Costs more, but you'll end up buying it eventually if you don't do it first.

If you have to ask, buy the OEM.

This is not to rag on you it's just that you are far more likely to be that much happier than if you had bought a third party flash.

I'll bet you Five Thousand of your dollars!!.

They all have very different guide numbers. The 580EX2 is the best of that lot. I would suggest not throwing money away by buying from Ritz. Instead I would buy here:

    or for less money
