    Speedlights

What do I need to know about buying a speedlight? I'm upgrading to a d200, and really want to get one. But I'm clueless, I will do more research before I buy anything, but does anyone have any tips, what do I need to know? Thanks!

    The SB-800 is the standard.

The 400 is great, but has no features, it is only a flash, as far as I know. The 900 is insane, and is heavy. The 600 is also good.

It's not like there is a HUGE difference in between the 600 and 800:

    The SB-800 is:
    - a little stronger
    - has built-in commander mode
    - has a sync plug
    - has a built-in slave

    That is about all!

The SB-900 has even LESS different from the SB-800:
    - greater zoom to accommodate FX cameras
    - is a little stronger
    - is a little heavier

    That's it!

Maybe he had more time to write it all out for him... I have two sb-600's and they work great. I think I'm going to pick up a sb-800 or 900 just for the master wireless function, and increased battery compacity.
