I am looking for a tri-pod for my compact camera and my consumer video camera.

I am not familiar with tri-pod brands.

Studyness shouldn't be an issue because my cameras are lightweight (compact camera and miniDV camcorder).

The name I noticed most when surfing eBay is Slik, Velbon, and Bogen-Manfrotto. How are these brands?

Bogen-Manfrotto is the only one I have personal experience with. They make good tripods.

Haven't actually used them before, but Slik & Velbon look good too.

they would get the job done. I would go for the lowest price. I use Bogen-Manfrotto and I love it.

My budget is about $90.

My last tri-pod was cheap and it squeaked when panning. The sound would be picked up by the camcorder and could be heard when watching the video. So I am trying to buy something more expensive. I am hoping that I will get one that does not squeak and pans smoothly so that there is no jerky movements when panning.
