Looking to get a speedlight
So I have a Nikon D80 DSLR. I bought a SB-50 DX speedlight which I was told was compatible with the D80 only to find out that yes, it's compatible, but only as an external flash, no zoom, no TTL, nothing. Just another flash like I have in my camera. So now I am on the lookout for an SB-600 or more generic model that may be cheaper. Any suggestions from anyone? The SB-600 TTL function will work with the D80 correct?
What are some good discount places to get equipment other than Hunt's, B&H, and adorama?
Thanks guys!What I use:
Nikon D7000 (Just upgraded!!!)
Nikkor AF 50mm 1.8
Nikkor AF 18-105mm 3.5 VR AF-S DX
Sigma 70-300mm 4-5.6
Promaster 28mm 2.8
Nikon SB-600
Nikon SB-50 DX
CoCo Ring Flash

Yes, the SB-600 is compatible and it would be a great compliment to your D80
What's in the bag:
Classic, not plastic - Mamiya RB67, Nikon F100, Nikon N80 ... yes, all film!

Yup, the SB600 would be fully compatible and a great fit.
There's no correlation between creativity and equipment ownership. None. Zilch. Nada. Actually, as the artist gets more into his thing, and as he gets more successful, his number of tools tends to go down. He knows what works for him. Expending mental energy on stuff wastes time.

I'd also recommend looking into the Nissin brand, Di866 for example - it works wirelessly as well and has a lot more power/options for the money.
