Nex -3 Dilemma.
First off, I'm not a photographer. I'm a Kayaker, I just also like to take pictures. Ive had a number of waterproof point and shoot cameras and I just wanted something better. I have also drowned 2 entry level DSLRs (so far) A Rebel XT, and a XS.
I picked up a NEX-3 for a price I couldn't pass up, I REALLY like the camera so far, it seems to be as good as my D3100 in my novice hands, but at half the size (size matters)
At any rate, I'm looking for a little more zoom than the 18-55 gives me, I might need 100mm max realistically. Currently, this leaves me with 3 options.
1: the 18-200 E-mount lens, which by reading reviews seems to be less than stellar, and comes in at a heafty $700 currently. (for perspective, I paid $290 for the camera and the 18-55 )
2: buy the mount adapter and use some other lenses, but have to do everything manually, no image stabilization, manual aperture, manual zoom.. Probably not a viable option for my needs.
3: 2x teleconverter, give longer arms to the 18-55 and retain all its features at the cost of low light performance and probably a little lower IQ (I speculate)
All of my shooting is outdoors in good light, so low light performance is not a big deal. Also I'm not throwing a lot of money at this, its a hobby within a hobby. Currently, unless there is some sort of major deal breaker I'm unaware of, it seems just getting the teleconverter is probably the most viable solution given my operating parameters.
Any suggestions? Or any ideas what would be a good teleconverter for a reasonable price (under $150)?
Thanks for any Help!
