Try going to a theatrical supply store. Buy them in sheets, usually like 24" x 36". They come in all sorts of colors, and you can looks at sample swatches just like paint chips in the hardware store. Cut them with ordinary scissors to the size you need to fit over your light.

They usually will wrinkle up when exposed to heat, so allow for a little shrinkage. But don't worry about heat... they're designed to handle it.

If your backlight is simply pointing up, go to the dollar store and buy a package of 9x9 aluminum cake pans. Cut the bottoms out, and tape the cut gel into the opening. Then just 'hang' it onto the light. The idea is to mount them to the light, not to the softbox. If you have a reflector on the light, you might be able to just cut the gel into a circle slightly larger than the reflector and friction will hold it into the reflector.

List the brand of lights you are using , someone may have a link to that and have some experience with them already.

    Shoot well, Joe
    -
Gel kits you can check here: pay attention to the size etc. as you may be able to make 2 or more out of a sheet depending on what you need.
