Not sure-- I picked up a 18-55mm AF-S DX ED II to go with the D80.

Glad you seem happy with your new set-up. The 18-55mm is not a bad starter lens at all and should do well to help you figure out what direction you want to go with future lenses. It's pretty sharp for what it is. It looks like an 18-55mm may have come with the D80 originally.

    You can call me Jim.

Nice. I think the 18-55 has better IQ than the 18-105. I have had both.

Word, I like my lenses to be smart.

    (jokin')

(although I just had to google what IQ on a camera was)

^^^ HaHa lol Laughter is good. I feel better now.

I actually had 18-55 VR and non-VR and they're both awesome.

I like it so far. The color on this thing is really nice, and it seems to take really sharp pictures. The only thing I want more from it is a better blurred background, which you have to be really close up to get any bokeh. (Maybe that's average? What do I know?) It's good for walking around, but I can already tell that I'm going to want a lens with a further zoom for when I need it (maybe one that can handle action shots), and also an ultra-wide prime, and then I should be set-- but possibly a macro lens down the road, though.
