Did you use a fill-flash on 1,3 and 4?

I used fill flash with all of these. I was using a 550ex flash set with a Light Sphere diffuser inside, and a big mini-softbox outside, except on those super back-lit shots, where I had to set the flash to full power without the diffuser. I keep the flash on manual, because I hate the double flash of ETTL, and it tends to over-expose groups of guys dressed in black, and under-expose girls dressed in big, white gowns.

I like your ideas with the couple, very nice! but unsure about what is meant to be happening in picture 5 and 6.
