I'm at work so I have to attach the website. These are some shots from the 3 weddings that I attended this year.

1st one I was helping out the photographer ( he was a amatuer too ).

2nd one I was 1 of the 3 photographers for her wedding ( My sister's )

3rd was for my sister-in-law and her photographer was only there for the ceremony. She really wanted pictures of the reception and friends having fun.

I looked at the site, and LOVED the last 2/3rds. You are doing great. What happened with the first third? I noticed a lot of them were kinda grainy. (The ones in Black and White). Not that noise is bad. I'm a fan of noise, but it looks like an equipment or ISO issue.

Thanks elsaspet for the compliments. Can you explain which pictures look grainy. On the 1st page, that wedding was a pain to shoot...dark indoors, direct late afternoon sun...I did have problems with the ISO at times. I would really love to hear some more suggestions as I LOVE YOUR WORK!!!

I try not to do to much editing to the originals. I'm hoping to start this as a part time business next season. Do you think I stand a chance with the work I've done??

Yes, I think you stand an above average chance.
Nothing is "bad" about the first photos. What you explain makes sense. It's extra hard to shoot against back lighting. I just kinda wondered what was going on because they didn't seem consistant with the body of the rest of your work.

Try this. Is a weird trick I learned at a shooting seminar.

When you have backlighting, bump your exposure UP. Yeah, sounds weird huh, but it works. Try playing around with it.

Thanks for you advice. I'm hoping to get a least 4 paid weddings for next year. I will be charging 1/2 the average price in my area and offering double the time for that price. The price is all due to my lack of experience.

All the weddings that I have shot were for free and I was not the main photographer. I really like the photojournalistic style. I'm not a a fan of poses but realize that some have to be done ( ie - formals with family,etc )....I prefer to float around and snap away. All photo's are edited and burnt to disc so the couple can print at will.

Do you think I'll have any business doing it this way???

Can you give me some direction as too how you did the silhouette shot ? I know how within a stuido, but not outside of one, Thanks in advance

That shot I had the camera set to " portrait " mode and the couple was in the shadows and I was in the direct sunlight. They were not posed either, they were just waiting for their bestman to sign the license.

On the computer I sharpened it up and used the shadow button to really make the black, black and leave the sky colored.

Hope that helps. That day was a pain because the wedding was in a gazebo and the shadow was covering their faces most of the time.

How do you do it in a studio??
