Man, is that the truth.
Several years ago (two) I made the decision not to try to sell anything I shoot and not to try to be a 'photographer.'
I love certain very small areas of photography - and...
I don't think it's very useful or even sensible to try and categorize 'street' according to whether they have certain elements that one can check off a list.
Let's see - in street, candid, message....
Much much better.
There are two problems that the processing hid.
There is a strange featureless patch on the side of the subject's head
The bright pants and arm of the person behind are really...
These are pretty good, especially for being new at it.
(The titles are a little too cutesie for my taste; I'd rather let the photos speak for themselves.)
The post-processing is where there is a...
Once you start wanting to sell, you inevitably will start thinking about what will sell best.
When people ask you to take pictures so they can buy them, they will want you to take the pictures they...
I like the first one better. :lmao::lmao::lmao::lmao:
Besides the normal stresses of dealing with a chronically ill spouse, I received bad news on three other fronts.
On Friday night, I spoke to my daughter and she told me that young couple we all...
Agree, it is so obvious now. But somhow I completely overlooked it, trying to get a decent background.
Next time, you'll remember
I would rather you had been a few feet to the right so the stand isn't in the way.
I have yet to see comparable IQ from the 4/3's... compared to a good DSLR with good glass. That alone is adequate reason not to go there, IMO.
So, the 'best' IQ is the only reason that...
Well, it sort of is a discussion.
Is the flight to M 4/3 inevitable for the majority of shooters?
Do you think that many photographers who would otherwise have opted for crop frame or full frame will go instead to m 4/3?
OK - and?
"nothing to make you wearier of yourself than artfulness when you were 10 years younger"
fromn a letter William Gaddis - American novelist
We can all agree that children are creative, imposing their imagination on damn near anything. And we all know that demanding too much that they hew to the rules by coloring inside the lines...
This isn't successful with me for several reasons.
The light is pretty harsh
The fence and the concrete are bright and pull my eyes from what I know is the center of interest, the dog.
The dog is...
Is that the way you want it to look?
The only important technical issue is if the picture looks the way you want it to and the technical aspects do not interefere with teh viewer's enjoyment or...
Perhaps this thread should be retitled 'what to do about ugly background chatter'?

Ain't that the truth
What we want is
What we get is this
Second question first.
B&H is as trustworthy as they come and prices have always been outstanding, competitive with anyone on the web.
Except for one lens, I have bought every single piece of...
That would depend on how tall you are; my niece might have to stand on her toes to use it.
I guess I need to be less meta in my comments.
For those of us who are above 5 feet tall, 43...

Just the nature of the subject suggests more of a diffuse look to this.
less green, less detail, etc.

thanks for the well reasoned analysis.
I will work on this more.

I don't see much of great interest in this shot.
A good portion of it is is out of focus and doesn't provide much of an interesting frame for what is in focus.
The color is good but, imo, that's...
42" is rather low for a camera rest.
Nice set but you are always shooting portraits with the person looking at you in an oblique way.
That will start to get wearisome as the viewer realizes that the 'pose' and the way of looking at the...

I know it ends abruptly without a good summary but I am struggling with that.
And hope from the comments to get a decent hold on it.
