    newbie from NC

    Hi Everyone! My name is Morgan & I'm a grad student at Duke in the genetics program. I have been wanting to take up photography for a long time & I finally bought my first camera. I bought a used Canon 30D. I also ordered my first lens, a Canon 50mm f/1.8 lens. I will probably order a 28mm lens next week & a flash.

    I signed up for a photography class starting Saturday. I'm very excited to finally start learning some photography.

    I'm also a photoshop enthusiast. I enjoy editing pictures & creating graphics.

    There's no correlation between creativity and equipment ownership. None. Zilch. Nada. Actually, as the artist gets more into his thing, and as he gets more successful, his number of tools tends to go down. He knows what works for him. Expending mental energy on stuff wastes time.

    Welcome morganleigh! I'm an undergrad at NC State, it's great to see another N.C person on the board! The Canon 50mm f/1.8 lens is a very awesome piece of glass, I'm sure you'll love it!
