    New member: feedback appreciated!

    Hey guys,

I just signed up today. I have been using my sister's old Canon 1000D (primitive!) to take a few photos. I really like HDR photography (see below). I've decided to get a 60D soon, and I would appreciate feedback on this decision. In particular, a lens recommendation for landscape/general purpose use would be great I understand that HDR is more to do with the setup than the camera, but I would like to upgrade.

Below are a few photos I have taken recently (last 4 or so weeks). I'm obviously learning - I'm sure these HDRs are far below par, but at least the scenery is nice Any feedback would be greatly appreciated (on the photos or camera/lens recommendations)!

I think the best HDR's are the ones that do not look like HDR has been used.

Yours are too much for me.

The focal length used seems appropriate for the subject.

The best photographs make it look like the "photography" is secondary.

    Thanks for the feedback!

The images I have produced so far are all a bit surreal, which in some ways I like, but this effect is also due to a lack of skill in my processing. Hopefully I can start to achieve some of those 'realistic' HDR shots once I get a bit better with my editing. I think I need to focus on using a lower ISO so I don't have to eliminate noise, which smoothes things a bit unrealistically, and perhaps tone down my editing a tad

Also, this is my first time ever signing up for a forum of any sort (although I think I'm familiar with computers/internet etiquette in general), so please say if I'm doing something wrong!

You made my camera feel old .

All jokes aside, I really like #3, sky looks awesome, it has some sort of nebular look...

Haha, sorry I didn't mean to sound cocky/rich... Trust me I'm working hard for this 60D, at the moment I have never even owned an SLR camera!

Thanks man! I like the effect as well, and that photo had a lot of nice textures in the grass/reeds/thatched roof. Hopefully I can get a few more nice pics next time I'm back in Austria!

I like all the shots. Good work , keep working at it you will only get better. 60D is a great camera i chose the 7d over it but i do like the flip out screen would really help with tripod shots.

    hi, just joined

great pictures, i like them a lot, especially the third and the fourth one, and i agree, sometimes over-editing is just perfect, and in some cases there no rules, the way you see them is what makes your pics uniques

    you have great potential
