Hello from the middle of nowhere NY!

Hello everyone!
My name is David, 22 years old and new to photography. I've been using photoshop for a few years, but somehow lost interest in it. My wife (Jennifer) wanted to get into photography as she loves portraits and figured this would be an excellent opportunity for the both of us. Short term goal is to learn as much as we can and enjoy our time snapping away. Long term goal for her is to make this as a business depending on how steep the learning curve is. We live in Watertown, NY as I am stationed at Fort Drum originally from Inglewood, CA and Queen Creek, AZ. Any tips, advice, criticism is highly welcomed.
