newbie equiptment advice

I have acquired a clean Vivitar 80 to 200mm.Lens.Plan to do Outdoor medium range( 40 to 150 yards ) wildlife photos. Will the Lens I have work with a Pentax P 3. I believe the Camera can be used Auto or Manual. My other choice is the venerable Pentax K1000.I will not be shooting a large number...
