I decided to buy the tele-lens for my Sony DSC-V1 camera.

It says: 1.7x High Grade tele-end conversion lens.

    What will the magnification be?

I expect it to magnify it 1.7 times in addition to the subject size. So total 2.7 times. Am I right? Will lenses magnify the subject more than twice???

    Thanks

1.7x would only be .7 times larger, ie, multply your original zoom capability by 170%, not 270%.

There is a sony demo liflet, that presents the capapilities of these lenses. That liflet has 2 pictures. One picture was taken without the 1.7x tele lenses and the other with the lenses. In the 1st picture there is a ball of 0.9cm diameter and in the second pitcture the same ball appears magnified with diameter 2.1cm.

Of course personally, I am going to kick sony's Ass if the magnification is not like that.

    What you think?
