It's a hydrant in the street photographed from above? Not something coming out of a wall?
If so, then, yes, the POV makes it!

Why does it look soft, though? A certain kind of softness I see. Nothing to do with the focus...!?!?!?

Thanks...Yes it's shot from above and the softness is due to the aplied Orton effect.
