Hi friends!

Someone ask me if I want to shoot a family of 10 persons. I only have my lovely 35mm L on 5dmkii.... Will it be wide enough? Its finally one of my first paid jobs so can't make any mistakes.

Hope you can give me some advice.

Best Johnny

That really depends on the venue and how you pose them, but in general, it should be sufficiently wide.

how are they spaced and how far back can you get?

What will you be using for lighting?
Light direction and quality should be an important consideration.

Using that short a focal length, 35 mm, the family members in the middle of the frame will probably appear a bit bigger than the family members near the sides of the frame.

For a 10 member family shot I'd probably use a 135 mm prime lens.
