35mm lenses on DSLR

will it work? Can i use my 35mm Nikon lesnes with my Nikon D50? Might seem like a basic question but i just want to make sure!

What advatages do the lenses designed for the DSLR have over lenses designed for 35mm?

yes you can. Someone else will be able to go into more specifics, but you can, and there is a bigger magnification. like a 1.4 magnification or something

It's a 1.5x crop with the D50 and for some of the older lenses, your meter may not work correctly but you sure can.

If it's an AF-lens you'll be safe in most cases even in terms of metering. Check your manual for more information about lens compatibility and possible loss of functionality when using older lenses (expecially the exceptions section might be interesting).

Pre - AI won't work. AI, AI-S, E series will work in manual exposure only. You would have to use an external meter, sunny 16, etc. AI-P will work for metering except 3D color matrix metering II
