400 or 800 speed film?

At a concert, eight rows from the stage...I want to get good photos, but which film is better 400 or 800?

I will have a zoom lens.

What lens? A f4.5 with 800 probably will not give you useable results. A f2.8 is a different story. Need more info.

I'd use ISO 1600 film and if needed, push it.

Same. Though it depends on how well lit the venue is and what speed your lens is - I'd still go with the 1600 as a 'Just in Case'
