40D issues.

While trying to take a picture today, it failed to work. It said "busy" in the viewfinder and then froze. I turned it off and back on and it was still frozen and this time the viewfinder info wouldn't show. I took the battery grip off and put a battery in the camera. Same problem. I put the grip back on and it sprung back to life. Should I worry? Anyone else have these problems?


I should add, it's only 4 months old and has probably less than 1500 actuations.

Sounds like maybe an issue with the card. I would off load and format.

if it were the card, why would the camera freeze and lose the viewfinder readout? I don't mean to sound like I doubt you, I'm just wondering what the rational is.

I've experienced a 20D with a similar problem. Seemed as if for some reason, the camera couldn't write to the card so the image was stuck in the buffer which had already been filled.

Never actually discovered the problem. We formatted the card and it turned out dandy.

I sent it to Canon in New Jersey, but I haven't heard back yet -- I'll let you know when I hear.
