Number 2 is interesting--I like the colors, it does seem to be right in the middle of the picture, though. I feel that #1 needs cropping. And if #1 was at more of an angle this would improve the composition, and #2 would also benefit from more of an angle also.

Nice photos, though, these are only my opinions.

Both pics are highly cropped as it is. I find it interesting that you would change the natural angle of the scene.

I applied the rule of thirds to the second pic, one third left & two thirds right.
