haven't posted in a while, thought it would see what you guys think of these two:

The second is very graphic, it is almost leaving the realm of photography, or so it seems, and the first makes me envious, for you could get this close to the heron, while I only ever see them flying away from me! Or they are so far away that they for a dot within my frame, even when taken at 300mm ...

thanks for the comments... The second was such a hard edged silhouette that I figured I'd take it the rest of the way in PP.

Luckily, in Florida, it is pretty easy to get close to herons. I've gotten within petting distance on golf courses.
