    Too much green and the background is distracting. Try re-shooting with a larger aperture (smaller number) to isolate the subject.

    I agree with thebeatles. Also the way the flower is laying down horizontally detracts from it as the focal point. I think it doesn't automatically register to the viewer that it is a flower bud as they usually are upright.

    The subject is over exposed and hence losses the details.

    Wow what an improvement. But I think symmetry is key when having this sort of composition. The rule of thirds only apply(IMHO) when the subject doesn't populate more then half and all the way to the end of a frame. Since the stem extends to most of the frame and all the way to the edge I think centering this will work.

    Edit: I don't know if that made any sense at all? lol

    1. i dint go watever u said except symmetry in photo...
    REASON: i m not a photographer its ma hobby nor hav dne ne course of photography..
    so i might not get the tecnical terms n theory...

    btw thnks for appreciation n critique....
    as both are good frnds haha....

    completely agree, no need for shorthand when you are typing.

    now for the photo lo l I like the edited version of the first photo much better than the original. The second shot is just not very eye catching in my opinion, it looks a bit out of focus to me.

    no shortcuts from nw[now] (haha...lol..) on
    actually i m habited to type but ill try not to..

    as a novice, i would like to ask as how do you judge the photo...
    what are the standards... :blushing:

    like you said its out of focus...
    its too messy n all..

    Your focal point is not the flower itself, it looks to be at the base of the stem, so the flower is out of focus.
