    Nope, not a monarch... I have a butterfly book around here some where... I'll have to dig it up

    It's called a Gulf Fritillary, Agraulis vanillae (I think!).

    Beatiful colors and that's a tongue to proud of, too!;)

    That thing is huge. If it were in my backyard I think my dogs would try to get it. :) Very nice shot though, it looks almost like an alien.
