used photoshop to let my fingers do the walking. copied the man, used dry brush on the rest and pasted the man back.

Nice use of the dry brush filter. But the man looks like he's been dry brushed aswell. Is this what you wanted? From your description above it sounds like you wanted him to stay normal.
This is a very nice picture even without the brush filter. But you could clone out the bench on the left hand side.
I find it really hard to find photos to use these effects on, but it works well here IMO so congratulations!
