It looked as though this building closed in the mid-eighties; but I found a calender from Oct. 1997 so I'm assuming that was the closure date. This place gave off a very creepy vibe all-around, but it was still a great day for photography.

The rest of the set can be seen here: General Tso's Health Center - a set on Flickr

Normally I get a great deal of pleasure seeing pics from abandoned psych hospitals, particularly since I work at a state psych hospital. The way you've composed and cropped these however have made them objects that could be found anywhere. There's nothing left that says old abandoned asylum. I think pics like 4, 9 and 12 give you more of a picture of where you're at. The rest could be taken just about anywhere.

I would agree johnboy. These all seem to be cropped too tight...you lose the sense of where these are taken.

You are certainly getting around. First UA, the UER, and now here.
I liked this set when I saw it on UA.

the lighting is so flat, these lack the distinct creepiness of an abandoned building

I feel like they all could use some contrast to add to the mood, #12 could really work in B&W or heavy contrast to really direct the eye to the light around the door. #11 is interesting but needs some sort of crop or better composition.
agree with all the other posts as well.

I concur absolutely. I wish there was places like this around where I live. Maybe go back at dusk with a tripod and try to use the available light to your advantage a bit more...

some lomography or cross processing would work wonders on this place.

Damn! I knew this set was going to get beat down on here! hahah

The problem with this particular abandonment was it was ripped to shreds by scrappers and there was absolutely nothing left intact in every room! It was in a tough location to shoot because of that and it was overcast that day. So I tried to be creative, but obviously failed.

Given its location I'll never go back, but each set is more and more practice! Again, thanks for the feedback all!!!
