    Photos NOT OK to edit
I am new to this site, and relatively new to photography. Currently I am using Elements to edit pictures, among another Corel program I have. I am wanting to venture into something else, and am wondering if lightroom is what I need for photography only type editing. I don't want to waste my money if I need something else. Any tips, advise, on what to buy will be greatly appreciated!

I have LR2 as well as Photoshop. I use LR2 the majority of the time. PS does allow you to do more but, you cant be lightroomm for its ease of use. I reccomend it Highly.

I'm wanting it mainly to brighten, sharpen, make the colors a little deeper, and I want to blur out the backgrounds of my images....can I do this on lightroom? I am just afraid that CS4 is too much for me, or more than I need.

Lr2 is a great tool for "mass editing" where you want to apply the same changes/effects to multiple images. I use it 90% of the time. However, Photoshop is needed for more "in-depth" editing.
