Hello everyone,

I just got a Nikon D3000 for x-mas and I'm having so much fun with it. I noticed the battery really drains fast when I'm using flash. I am thinking of buying an extra battery but don't want to pay the top dollar price of the Nikon battery. I noticed that all the aftermarket brands have a voltage of 7.4 while the one that came with the D3000 is 7.2. Does this make a big difference? Will I be ruining my camera if I were to buy the cheaper ones with 7.4V?

What is your opinion on the topic and does any one already have any experience with this.

Thank you all in advance!

$500 camera. $40 Nikon battery vs. $20 off-brand battery.

The Nikon batteries work extremely well and do not cause issues. Off brand, who knows. I am sure people have had good luck with off-brand, but I personally don't think it is any where near worthwhile to try to save $20.

Any non-Nikon parts that go in or on your camera, void your Nikon warranty. The camera body warranty is only good for 1 year. After that it no longer matters.
