Airplane Rainbow

Never saw this happen before but I gather that the position of the sun and possibly ice crystals high up caused the man made rainbow.

I've seen similar effects on-line at 'optics picture of the day' but I think your example beats theirs by some margin!

Very awesome

I carry my camera with me in the fall and spring as airplane trails around here have those type of colors - though not as much as yours. The biggest problem I have is I'm usually driving to or from work during this time
