I have begun a new series that could conceivably consume the rest of my life.
I am currently fascinated by the many different ways americans spend time in their backyards. Are we trying capture, to contain nature by fencing it up and calling it OURS? Not a new revelation by any means, but all the same, indicative of our consumptuous human nature.
Or maybe we just like to sit in hammocks or grill foods or drink beer or play bocce ball...

Wow, I like what you've posted here. And as you say, it's a theme with limitless potential. I look forward to seeing more.

These examples are somewhat bleak...there must be some backyards that are little oasis' of calm and beauty as well? Or are the bleak-ish ones just more interesting to photograph?

I'm not sure yet. This is just what I have to date. I am sure that the significance and/or feel of this series will evolve as I dive deeper into it.
Thanks for your comments, really appreciate them,
