    Where did you come upon this.
    And why does it look so ... fragile, so "open"?
    I would assume ammonites are "carved" in stone. You dig them out and open them like all other fossils. But this one, with the black looks ... COOL!!!

    Thanks guys. This is the original image. I just converted it to B&W, upped the contrast and burned in the inner parts.:D
