This is a motif that just shouts out loud: take my picture in black and white!
Very nice.

But just imagining I was sitting in a town developers' office, I see why they think they might rather want this changed and put to some different (I am not saying "better") use.

Well they will most definitely remove all the foliage first and then maybe sandblast the buildings and retrofit the entrance ways. They may then even pave the area so that it is more accessible. The one good thing is I would imagine that they will open the bunkers they are closed and you can not go inside any of the buildings at present.
