...and FINALLY!!! The Canon G9 - with RAW

  1. Canon G9... with RAW!

This may well be the best back-up camera for doing real street photography - if you don't want to bring a fat obtrusive SLR, or can't afford a Rangefinder.

I can't believe it took them THIS long.

  2. The more I read about this camera, the more in love I am with it. This thing rocks. If I hadn't just bought a Leica D-Lux 3 as my "briefcase camera" I'd buy one of these to keep on me throughout the day.

whoops.... didn't know you had a separate thread for the G9.
This is indeed great news! You have all the needed controls PLUS Raw! I had fallen in love with the G7, but the lack of RAW held me back. This is good.

Has Canon announced a street price for the G9?

What Canon should do is roll out an M mount digi rangefinder. They have prior experience with rf's and have the technology.

    Canon, are ya listening?!

  6. Wow, that's weird. I was thinking (fantasizing) the same thing.

I wanted to get something smaller and less expensive than my 30D that I could just keep in my car and not care(as much) if it got stolen, but I still want creative control over my pictures. Was looking at a Rebel, but this is the ticket. Thank you Canon!
