I've been lurking (yes, I'm one of those creepy people that do that.) And I've finally decided to join and post.

I'm 100% a newbie to photography. In fact, I just bought my first DSLR on the weekend. I bought it as I'm travelling to Peru & Bolivia in May and would like to have great photos to remember Macchu Picchu and the like by. However, I suppose "great" is asking a bit much of the camera when the user clearly is clueless.

Welcome to TPF!! (And I'm almost green with envy, as Macchu Picchu is somewhere I very much want to visit. It was actually on my list for this year, but the best time to go there conflicted with other travel plans I already have.)
