Another Model Release???

Are celebrities exempt from the model release rules? What about people that are just local celebrities, such as your local mayor or councilman?

They're exempt for non-commercial purposes. You can post editorial photos of celebrities & public figures for the news & commentaries, etc, but once you go commercial, including self-promotion (IE on your website, etc) you need a release. Took me a bit to find a link to support my statement.
