Are there any recomended books that I should read being new to photography? I was just wondering if there was any "holy grail" of photo books that I need to read to get me going.

Yep Understanding Exposure by Brian Peterson is one of the most usefull books you can get when starting out - explains the whole area of - well - exposure and how ISO, shutter speed and aperture relate and interact together.
