I'm fairly new to the Portland, OR marketplace after just moving here from the midwest. We had to close our studio there due to the economic conditions... bounced checks, charge backs on credit cards (disputes for free pics), etc. It was horrid. Now that we're out here, I'm noticing quite a bit of saturation in the marketplace and would love to hear some feedback on this area in regards to operating conditions, pricing, "models" (are there any REAL ones here or just more scammers??), and what's hot and what's not. Seems that due to it being a college area, everyone and thier grandmother has a digital camera and is advertising services as a photographer. I'm more interested in starting back up again doing some creative commercial and maybe some magazine work (submissions) in hopes of publication. It's not going to be my primary source of income like it was in the midwest, at least not for now. Thanks!
