Well, since I feel very little motivated to take any new photos, I have the best opportunity to work my way through my still half unedited photos taken during our summer vacation in August (yes, I am still working on those!). OK, now I only have two days to work on left ... and yesterday I found this little series taken from on board the boat that we had chartered for a cruise on the lakes and rivers south west of Berlin: the boat was moored for the night in Potsdam and I saw that on that particular day dusk would bring us a Blue Hour, i.e. that wonderful occurrance when by and by all the reds and yellows somehow disappear from the scale of colours as the light fades and only some intense blue light remains. I got the view from the boat across that harbour bay:

I have not "tweaked" colours here at all.
I love when this phenomenon happens!

Cool water series! The last one is really, really nice! Just bright enough to still see the outlines that seperate the individual buildings from one another, yet dark enough to have that beautiful light-reflecting-on-water effect stand out nicely. Gotta love twilight!

Very interesting colours in the first pic, too. Unfortunately they seem just slightly out of focus, which makes my eyes dizzy from trying to adjust when looking too long. But maybe it's my monitor. I can't tell.

I was wondering before I opened the thread why it's called a blue hour. Now I see..

No 1, for some reason the colors look slightly heavy to me. Houses like these are something when I think of Germany. No 2, I like the color of the river, a blue moment. :) it didn't last long, did it? No 3, not a fan. No 4, nice night feel. Good exposure, too.

My favorites are definitely 2 and 4 as well. I love the light effect in 4, and the hue on 2 is too cool.

    Well, no. All digital. BUT...

...the first was taken with the Powershot at full zoom off a slightly swaying boat in beginning dusk... and the Powershot does not deal too well with the full zoom, anyway. Let alone in fewer and fewer light, so that one actually had camera shake which I tried to compensate with USM. Hence the feeling of queasiness, Julia. Sorry.

And I might have played with the levels just a tad too much ... but the houses there ARE painted in all these fancy colours, they REALLY were quite a sight to behold!

Thanks all! I like it when I hear that others like my photos :goodvibe:

    (Who does not? ;))
