Baby photo - first attempt at pp

Hi all

I'm new to this, just discovered the wonders of GIMP and done a bit of work on a snap shot I took on xmas day. Please bear in mind that this was taken on an old point and shoot camera so the photo quality is not great, but what do you think of the pic and the pp? Is the sepia or b&w better. Any advice on how to improve? Thanks

I think the sepia looks much better.

Thank you. This is another version I had, I thought the contrast might be a bit low so upped it in the above version, but now I'm not so sure. Is softer sometimes better on baby pics?
