Ball Heads

Just interested in suggestions for a quality ball head and mount in the $150 range. Have looked at the Giottos MH-1000, but not sure about the mount.

I have and still use a Giottos ball head. Great design (tension control for a good price) BUT mine snapped just below the quick release. SCARED THE CRAP OUT OF ME... I was on a photo shoot and was just quick enough to catch the camera. I ended up taping a new thread and attaching a quick release plate from Bogen (now matches my other 3-way pan). I don't think I'll buy another.

I like Bogen/manfrotto heads. If ball head, try to save up and get one with tension adjustment... makes a big difference. If landscape photography, you'll probably be served best by a 3way pan.
