Balloon Stampede -night pics

Known amongst balloon enthusiasts as "the Glow", which is somewhat self explanitory.

This first one was taken before they turned off the stadium lights.

Timing is critical, and nearly impossible to accomplish. The announcer controls when the burners are lit. Trying to get them all burning at the same rate at the same time is pretty much mission impossible.

And then toward the end they started lighting off fireworks. Being near the top of the grandstand limited what we could see, I did manage to get this one. Next time I'll go down onto the race track (horsies) and get the whole line of balloons lit up with the fireworks going. Should be cool.

very nice. what kind of camera did you use? on a tripod I assume?

It was a Pentax *istD w/Tamron 28-75mm f/2.8 on a monopod. Pretty stable from the seat.
